Location of the Blackpowder Shootout Blackpowder Shootout The Blackpowder Shootout, A Dark Day at Rattlesnake Gulch, is an annual event held in Benton City, Washington that takes you back to the old west. See participants dressed in costumes from the old west as they shoot and compete. Several categories of shooting can be seen. Watch muzzleloaders, classic gunfighters, and western shooters. See as they compete with pistol, shotgun and riffle in a timed shootout where the best time and accuracy wins. The SASS, Single Action Shooting Society, sponsors these Cowboy Action Shooting events around the country. This is a multifaceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West. Shooting competitions are staged in a unique "Old West" style. |
