Cathy and Bob Betz, M.W. founded Betz Family Winery with the 1997 harvest. After 25 years in the Washington wine industry we decided to craft a small amount of wine of our own. We make only red wines working with Bordeaux varieties and Syrah. The flagship wine is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, called "Pere de Famille" while our "Clos de Betz" has a greater concentration of Merlot. We also currently produce two Syrahs: "La Cote Rousse" from Red Mountain and "La Serenne" from mid-Yakima Valley fruit. In exceptional years we release a varietal Merlot called "La Marraine". Grapes are sourced from a selection of Washington's most conscientious growers who work with us to provide the character and quality of fruit that we desire. Our small, artisan approach to winemaking allows us to produce wines of individual character, dimension and harmony. We open for tastings twice a year on release weekends.

Our goal at Betz Family Winery is to craft compelling wines with individual character that reflect the vineyards the grapes come from and our dedication to them.

Since the late 1960s we've enjoyed countless hours studying how vintners grow their grapes and craft their wines. A year in the vineyards of Italy, France and Germany followed by numerous adventures throughout the US and other European vineyards have provided a perspective that we hope to bring to our winemaking.
