Buty is Nina Buty Foster and Caleb Foster’s family micro-winery in Walla Walla. Established in 2000, Buty wines reflect experience developed from Caleb’s eight-year apprenticeship at Woodward Canyon Winery, and overseas winemaking in New Zealand and South Africa. Buty focuses its winemaking effort in the vineyard first to grow character in the wines, and offers small cuvées of terrior driven wines, grown with balanced yields and high ripeness.
Buty was first recognized for producing classical vineyard-designated chardonnay with pronounced fruit and site expression. In addition, Buty creates the traditional blends of both sémillon and sauvignon blanc, and merlot and cabernet franc.
The Northwest’s new classic comes from Buty. Rediviva is the marriage of cabernet sauvignon’s intensity and syrah’s complexity. ‘Rediviva of the Stones’ favors syrah, and is grown in the ancestral Walla Walla riverbed cobblestones. ‘Columbia Rediviva’ is grown in the Horse Heaven Hills, and is dominated by cabernet sauvignon.
