Location of Burnley Vineyards Winery Burnley Vineyards Winery Burnley Vineyards is one of the oldest vineyards in the Monticello Viticultural area and one of the larger producers. The Reeder family owns and operates the 31 acre vineyard and winery. The family purchases the property in 1976 and planted their first vines. C.J. and Patt originally planned on just growing grapes to sell to other wineries however their son, Lee, decided to go to Virginia Tech to learn how to make wine. He graduated in 1983 and they produced their first vintage in 1984. The Burnley Vineyards is one of the few in the area to be completely self-sufficient. From working the vines in the spring making sure the tender buds don't freeze all the way to putting the finished product in the bottle and putting on a label, each process is done in house. Enjoy a tour and taste many of their wonderful wines. You will want to take home a bottle or two to share with some friends. |
