Gillette is located in the northeast corner of Wyoming. The first homesteaders were bought out by the Lincoln Land and Livestock company when the new railroad crossed them. In 1891, they planned out the city and sold lots. When the railroad arrived, the town prospered and grew. Today, it is a small town between Mount Rushmore and Devil's Tower. Mineral deposits, such as coal, continue to be mined around this area. Gillette is also a center for entertainment and conventions. |
